We are excited to announce April 19th as the date for Freedom Day 2009!
Freedom Day, created in partnership with JustOne, One Voice to End Slavery, and Stop the Traffik, is a one-day gathering to facilitate more awareness, networking, and mobilization towards the fight against modern-day slavery.
During our last Freedom Day in 2007, over 1,200 people and 30 diverse organizations gathered on the campus of Vanguard University in Orange County. It was a powerful time to learn, share, and collaborate together towards the ending of slavery in our lifetime.
This year, we will be gathering together on the campus of Life Pacific College on Sunday April 19th from 2pm to 8pm. In partnership with numerous organizations, government agencies, law enforcement, local task forces, film makers, artists, and everyday abolitionists, we will be hosting insightful and practical workshops, film showings, interactive learning installations for all ages, and much more.
In addition, we have two of the leading voices in the fight against slavery as our keynote speakers:
- Dr. Kevin Bales
- Author of Disposable People and Ending Slavery
- Founder of Free the Slaves
- Dr. Melissa Farley
- Author of Prostitution, Trafficking, and Traumatic Stress
- Founder of Prostitution, Research, and Education
Our theme for Freedom Day 2009 is “The Piece Plan: Restoring Lives, Ending Slavery“.
If you would like to help us get the word out about Freedom Day or volunteer for the event, please email us at info@just4one.org.

We look forward to seeing you in April!
