Taking Time Off to Rest – Doctor’s Orders

Last night was a wake up call for me…

I went to urgent care because I had been experiencing shortness of breath and some minor chest pains the last few days. It turns out that I have high blood pressure (158/106)…not good. The doctor put me on what appears to be permanent meds to control my blood pressure. Strange dealing with the permanency of such a prescription.

Even with exercising pretty regularly and eating relatively healthy, it looks like I still need to better handle other areas of life. All this to say… I’m taking the next couple of days off to be with Tina for a quick getaway (just us two!). I will not be blogging or returning most email for a few days.

I’d like to thank all of you who have already sent me messages of encouragement and committing to prayer. I really appreciate your friendship.

Life changes are coming…

Feel better and really enjoy your vacation.

  5. My doctor gave me some orders too, and I’ve had to make lifestyle changes too. One of the things I’ve noticed is how I have to do certain things more consciously and not wait until I feel like it. And, I’ve gone down 2 notches on my belt — that’s a good and healthy thing.

  6. Praying for you. I, too, take some blood pressure medicine. Scary stuff.

Thanks everyone for your notes and prayers. I really appreciate all of you!

I’ve decided to see if some immediate diet changes and exercise routing will change my blood pressure before jumping on the meds. I am scheduled to go back and take some more tests in the next couple of weeks. I’m hoping that my spike in numbers was an irregularity…hoping… we’ll see.

In any case, the last few days of rest has been awesome. I feel so much better.
