My son, Jonathan (age 4), was asked by his preschool teacher as to what he did for Thanksgiving. The following is a photo of the response he gave as posted at his school.
Interpretation:
This was a four year old’s attempt to describe his Thanksgiving visit to PATH Hollywood where we shared a meal with those in transitional housing. Jonathan was really moved by his experience of seeing those without permanent housing. Although he couldn’t remember the names of those he met, he did remember that many slept on bunk beds because they lacked a home to go to.
I’m so proud to see him grow in his compassion for people at such an early age. I pray that these kinds of experiences will be everyday occurrences and normality for him.
I love my young activist. (Don’t tell his mom, but I guess he may have skipped the turkey and went for the mac and cheese.)
Here’s to our children and the things they teach us… Cheers

I love that our environment is growing our children to be activists RIGHT NOW. Can’t wait to see how God will use him on his journey through life.
Wouldn’t it be funny if in a couple of decades he says to you, “Dad, that’s soooo archaic. You’ve gotta think outside the box!”
Thanks for the note Grace. I can’t wait for those words to come out of his mouth. It is deeply humbling to consider the future.
Thanks also for all you do at PATH…appreciate you!
