This is the first of a handful of 2010 conferences I will be previewing here on my blog this week. There are several conferences I plan to participate in and I thought it might be helpful to those interested in attending a few in 2010.

The first conference I’d like to preview for you is the Verge Conference. Verge is a missional community conference that is birthed out of a great church in Austin called Austin Stone. Here’s the focus of the conference as expressed on their website:

Learn from leading thinkers and practitioners of gospel-centered missional community. Whether you’re a pastor, church-planter, or simply interested in the redemption and renewal of your community, the Verge Conference will give you the tools to build gospel movements wherever you are.

As many of you may already know, the language of “missional” is becoming more commonplace in conversations about the church. It often describes a posture of faith that seeks to move outward from the walls of the church to authentically embody the mission of Christ through the practical embrace of humanity through love and service.

I’m looking forward to this conference because I believe that this conversation about “missional” is an important one to have, and an even more important practice to form.

With great thinkers including Alan Hirsch, Neil Cole, Francis Chan, Dave Gibbons, Dave Ferguson, Ed Stetzer, and many others, it should be a great time to be refreshed, inspired, and challenged to revisit the mission God called his Church towards.

During the conference, I will be facilitating 3 workshops about collaboration, compassionate justice, and ideation.
