I’m glad it got you thinking. I think the perspective of viewing things collectively is a powerful way to approach the text. I also think that it’s often more appropriate and honest.

got me thinking… i wonder if there are popular/common verses or passages in the bible that we usually exhort people to apply individually but really is meant to be for the church community as a whole. i know you touched on it with the reminder that most of the new testament especially was written as paul’s letters to whole bodies, but it’s something i definitely want to look into but don’t have the benefit of the original greek or hebrew…
