Koream Journal, a leading magazine in the Korean American community, interviewed me a couple of months back concerning the Freeze Project for their September ’08 issue. As many of you know, the Freeze Project was something created by Derrick Engoy and I to help bring awareness to the issue of modern-day slavery. This project was also later adopted by JustOne and One Voice to End Slavery.

I thought the article did a good job of covering the Freeze Project as well as some of our other initiatives for JustOne. (It’s always hit and miss with media interviews.) In this case, I was pleasantly surprised by how much they spotlighted our efforts. In addition, this was the first interview I had ever done with the Asian American community about social activism (I know…ironic.). I hope that this will be the first of many more opportunities to bring awareness and practical ideas for social justice to the Asian American community.

Thanks Koream for helping us get the word out about the Freeze Project!

  1. Personally, I just want to say thank you for living out your faith with an activist mentality. It can be rare to see that nowadays. I hope articles such as the one that Koream did with you will only enhance the activism faith with others. Mad props!

  2. Thanks Bunk for your encouraging note! I just checked out your site…love to see how it develops.

    Let’s stay in touch.

  3. Very good article. They even included other JustOne initiatives. Very cool.

I like that you pointedly brought out that Koreatown is included in the human trafficking issue. Good job contextualizing your message to your audience.

  4. Thanks for the note Josh. Good to see a comment from you again.

  5. Charles — Wow, great interview! It’s really encouraging to get the word out to the Korean American community about JustOne. For the many people in the KA community who have experienced “church” as an insular cultural institution primarily concerned with personal piety and keeping the ship running, your work through JustOne is a much-needed breath of fresh air.

  6. Thanks for the note Daniel…let’s connect soon.
